In
addition, any information gained on aspen reclamafion and follow-up efforts to reestablish aspen will benefit
Colorado wildlife' found in aspen forests. In order for the reseazch effort to be worthwhile, we believe that Seneca
Coal Company should commit to follow through with the study plan. Therefore, it is critical that Seneca Coal
Company continue to work with Dr. Shepperd of Rocky Mountain Research as they proposed in a letter and draft
proposal dated February 24, 2003 as well as in their December 31, 2003 submission.
We have reviewed the Revised Aspen Study plan and agree with the comments you provided Seneca Coal
Company in your letter dated January 7, 2004. We appreciate your attention to detail and do not have any
additional commerifs.
Again, we feel that it is important that Seneca continue to follow through with the aspen study. If you require any
additional comments, please contact Liza Graham, Habitat Biologist, at 970-871-2861.
Sincerely, 'r- n
Ron D. Velarde
Northwest Regional Manager
cc: J.
