ai
CONSERVATION EASEMENT
Our management has considered the possibility of a conservation easement,
Due to the fact that a previous tract of land (the Yellowjacket Highlands
property) was donated for this purpose and the fact that surface and underground
activities are scheduled for the next 35 years in this area, this option was
ruled out as being inconsistent with the mine plans for the area.
ENHANCEMENT OF ADJACENT AREAS FOR NESTING RAPTORS
Upon completion of the initial helicopter and ground surveys, in
consultation with the CDOW and USFWS, CYCC will consider the need for
enhancement. If deemed necessary, a plan will be jointly developed to determine
the need and extent of habitat enhancement and the construction of artificial
nesting platforms for raptors.
SUMMARY
CYCC has long had a commitment to environmental values. We are proud of
the progress we have made in this area and the recognition our efforts have
received both from the USFWS and CDOW. We believe that our record of achieve-
ments, commitment, and wildlife database we have accumulated can match or
surpass that of any operation in Colorado. Our intent has always been to not
only comply with the existing regulations, but to see that the job ~s done to
the best of our abilities. Our future commitments will be to the same level of
excellence as the commitment we have exhibited in the past.
We recoginize that there are gaps in the art of predicting impacts to
wildlife and agree that additional intormation on revegetation, elk behavior and
raptors may be needed. We will agree to those items as mitigation when it can
u.wH e.~ . sCn'lAk.. .'Y . u.ib c`. Y, rwie,+ivw.'aN
