r ~•
3 Meeker Mines Phase II Bond Release Meeting: June 30, 1993
lands. Greg Lewicki questioned if the methodology of using the
sediment pond history is acceptable and feels it to be more
reliable than site collection or sedcad modelling. Steve Rathbun
agreed that this methodology might be accurate but the problem lies
with the Division setting the standard.
• DMG will approve an acceptable standard for allowable sediment
contributions.
Facilities issue. The landowner has requested that a trailer
foundation and a graveled parking area remain for hunting camp or
potential cabin use. The Division approved the retention of these
structures and has received a letter from the landowner for this
request. Steve Rathbun contends that the Division needs to approve
an alternate post-mining land use for this small (less than 1 acre)
area. A hunting camp/possible cabin would be considered
residential/recreational not grazing/wildlife. Furthermore, the
post-mining land use needs to be implemented within two years of
grading. Mike Walker has records of when the land owner started
conducting his hunting camps so the feasible implementation should
be OK. Greg Lewicki asked if the shed remaining on site needs to
be included in this land-use change. The landowner uses it for
storing and dressing game during hunting season. OSM's answer was
"yes", include the shed in the post-mining land use change.
• The operator will submit to the Division a proposed land use
change for the areas in question.
The meeting concluded with a restating to verify that all were in
agreement of who needed to submit what:
• The DMG will locate verification of this inspection report and
provide it to OSM:AFO.
• Mike Savage will submit "f" tests demonstrating homogeneity of
the populations.
The DMG will provide OSM our statistical analysis
• DMG will approve an acceptable standard for allowable sediment
contributions.
• The operator will submit to the Division a proposed land use
change for the areas in question.
m:\coal\jhb\meeker.br
