Long <br /> Divivnn DirMior <br />Re: Trapper Mine (Permit No. C-81-010) <br />Technical Revision Application No. 80 <br />Horse Gulch Sediment Pond <br />Dear Wildlife Manager: <br />The Division of Minerals and Geology hereby issues notice, N accordance with Title 34, Article 33, Section 116, Paragraph <br />4, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on October l3, 1998, an application to revise coal mining operations at the Trapper <br />Mine was considered complete for the purposes of filing. The revision was submitted by Trapper Mining Inc.. All review <br />and comment periods as provided in the Act and the Regulations initiate from this date of filing. <br />The applicant proposes to construct a sediment control pond on approximately 0.75 acre of land within the applicant's existing <br />mine permit area in the W 1/2, Sec. 6, TSN, R90W. The location is approximately 5 miles south of Craig, Colorado and is <br />shown on the Castor Gulch USGS 7.5 minute quadrangle map. <br />Because the above referenced technical revision application would incorporate additional lands into the permit area or might <br />otherwise alter previously approved permit conditions or mitigation measures, we are requesting your agency's evaluation <br />of the proposal. Your comments and concerns relating to the adequacy of fish and wildlife resources infornla[ion, the fish <br />and wildlife plan, and the reclamation plan as it relates to fish and wildlife considerations, including potential impacts [o <br />threatened or endangered species, are requested. If wildlife habitat is the proposed postmining land use, we request your <br />evaluation of proposed woody plant stocking levels, planing arrangements, and methods for mitigation of potential adverse <br />impacts. <br />Please advise us if you require additional information. <br />A copy of the technical revision application is available for public inspec[ion at the Moffat County Counhouse, 221 W Victory <br />Way, Craig, CO 81625, and a[ the Division office. For additional information or to provide written comments, con[act the <br />Division of Minerals and Geology, Room 21~, 1313 Sherman Stree[, Denver, Colorado 80203, (303) 866-3567.
