Banta. <br />Orvrston Director <br />RE: Technical Revision for the Reclassification of the Somerset Mine Access Road to <br />a Haul Road, Somerset Mine, (Permit No C-91-022, Revision TR-08) <br />Deaz Ms. Williams: <br />The Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Division has issued a proposed decision to <br />approve a technical revision (TR-08) to the mining and reclamation plan for the <br />Somerset Mine, Permit No. C-81-022, operated by the Somerset Mining Company, <br />under the provisions of the Colorado Surface Coal Mining Reclamation Act of 1979. <br />The proposed technical revision TR-08 was submitted by Somerset Mining Company, <br />for the Somerset Mine. <br />The revision will change the permit application to change the classification of the <br />access road to the Somerset Mine facilities to a haul road. The azea is located in <br />Section 31, T12S, R90W; Sections 34, 35, & 36, T12S R91W; Sections 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, <br />8, 9, 10 & 17, T13S R90W; and Sections 1, 2, 3, 11, 12 & 13, T13S R91W. The mine <br />permit area is located on the U. S. Geological Survey 7.5 minute Bowie and Somerset <br />Quadrangle maps. <br />The operator has committed to paving a portion of the proposed haul road from the <br />State Highway to the coal storage bench. Paving of this road will m;n;m;~e to the <br />extent possible material being tracked onto the highway and this in turn will further <br />reduce the dust generated. Notice of the proposed decision will be published on <br />October 23, 1991 and will initiate the 10 day public comment period. <br />Any person who has an interest which is or may be adversely affected may request <br />a hearing regarding this proposed decision. Requests for a hearing must be made in <br />writing within ten (10) days of this publication and shall state with reasonable <br />specsfifictity the reasons for the request and objections to the proposed decssion. The <br />Formal Public Hearing concerning the issuance of Notice of Violation C-91-013 will <br />be continued during the next Boazd meeting on November 13 and 14, 1991. <br />Objections to the Division's decision to approve TR-08 can be raised during this <br />meeting. <br />If you have any questions please feel free to call me. <br />Sinc el G~~`~ <br />J <br />Randall P.
