Canany <br />West Elk Mine (Permit No. C-1980.007) oivi:ion Director <br /> Natural Resource Trustee <br />Dear Sir or Madam: <br />The Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety is proposing to approve a renewal application for coal mining and <br />reclamation permit. The application was submitted by Mountain Coal Company, LLC on January 23, 2006 for the West Elk Mine. <br />In accordance with Rule 2.07.4(2xc) of the Rules and Regulations of the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board for Coal <br />Mining, we are providing notice of this proposed decision. <br />Any person with an interest which may be adversely affected by the proposed decision may request a formal hearing before the <br />Mined Land Reclamation Board within 30 days of the fast publication of the public notice by the Division in the Delta County <br />Independent. <br />The underground mine is located approximately 9 miles east of Paonia, Colorado. The permit area is further described as follows: <br />Portions of Section 29, 30, 31, and 32, Township 12 South, Range 90 West; <br />Portions of Sections 25, 26, 27, 34, 35 and 36, Township 12 South, Range 91 West; <br />Portions of Sections 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, all of 6 and 7, Portions North of the North Fork of [he Gunnison River in Sections 8, 9, IQ, <br />portions of Sections 11, I2, 17, and 18, Township 13 South, Range 90 West; <br />Portions of Sections I-3, I I-13, Township 13 South, Range 91 West; <br />Portions of Sections 6 & 7, Township 13 South, Range 89 West of the 6th P.M. <br />Copies of the renewal application are available for public review in the Division offices at the above address and at the Gunnison <br />County Clerk and Recorder.
