INTRODUCTION AND OVERVIEW
The following amendment application for the Daniels Sand Pit M2, operated by Transit Mix
Concrete, is a major mod cation of the existing permit. This modification has been made possible
through the acquisition of some additional lands that severely limited certain aspects of reclaiming
the operation under the existing permit. The changes in the plan allow for the production of a
topography that is far more suitable for eventual development or other final land uses. R'hen
completed, these changes will add considerably to the value of this and surrounding land.
Essentially every ezhibit in the existing permit has been rewritten for this design. A few of the
baseline information exhibits required only minor modification, but even those were redrafted.
This submittal is in two parts. Each part will require sepazate and sequential actions by the
Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board. The first part is a succession of operator which transfers
the Castle Concrete Sand Pit operation to Transit Miz Concrete (Daniels Sand). Although these two
companies are sister companies under the control of the same pazent corporation, the succession of
operator is still necessary to transfer responsibility for the permit. For the past several years the
Castle Concrete Sand Pit has been operated by Transit Mia under an agreement between the two
companies. This succession of operator will formalize what already is in effect. The succession of
operator should be completed prior to consideration of the amendment.
The second part of this submittal is the amendment to the existing Daniels Sand Pit M2
permit. After completion of the succession of operator the existing Castle Concrete Sand Pit permit
will actually be a part of this permit. Both plena were coordinated as a result of the 1985
amendment, but this amendment will modify this coordination in various ways and totally integrate
both plans.
• KEY ELEMENTS OF THIS AMENDMENT
Although the amendment portion of this submittal contains many exhibits, the two key
exhibits are the Mining Plan (Exhibit D) and the Reclamation Plan (Exhibit E). Following is a
listing of the key points included in those exhibits, and, where applicable, a brief description of how
the existing plan is modified by this amended plan.
One exhibit included in this amendment that is of considerable importance to tracking the
history of this operation is the outline Format summary of the various changes that have occurred in
the plans since the permits were issued as well as a brief summary of the pre-permit history. This
exhibit should be referred to whenever there is a need to examine what was implemented by the
various changes that have occurred. This ezhibit can be found near the front of the amendment and
is called "Permit Change Tracking Summary."
One point of considerable importance regarding this amendment needs to be made here and
will be reiterated elsewhere.
The plans in this amendment totally replace all preuioas plans.
• Introduction/Overview Page 1/O-1
