COB 1434 <br />(970)929-5015 <br />Far (970) 9:9-5595 <br />RECEIVED <br />MAY 2 9 2001 <br />Division of Minerals 8 Geology <br />Re: Mountain Coal Company LLC (MCC), West Elk Mine; Permit No. C-80-007; Minor <br />Revision 276, Miscellaneous Structure -Degas Facility Building at Shaft No. 3. <br />Dear Ms. Brown: <br />As we discussed in our telephone conversation today, MCC is requesting a minor revision to its permit <br />for a steel, degas facility building at Shaft No. 3, in Sylvester Gulch. As you may recall, Shaft No. 3 is <br />approximately 100 yards east of the existing degas borehole facility. The purpose of the building is to <br />provide cover for up to three blower units that will be attached to HDPE methane drainage pipelines <br />installed in Shafr No. 3. <br />The steel building will require the construction of a concrete pad (slab on grade with thickened edges, <br />40' x 22') and 3 smaller pads (approximately 6' x l0') for aprons or approaches for doorways. The <br />pads will be 6"thick and reinforced with rebar.
