This slurry will be carried downdip by a 4-inch pipe to the gob side of the
seals in either the 6 Right, 7 Right, or the 8 Right Section. This is depicted on the attached map. The
pipe will be 4-inch aluminum from the borehole at Crosscut #7 of Main North to the return side of the
seals. A 4-inch steel pipe with a "P"-trap will be utilized through the seals. The pipes will be grounded to
prevent static electricity. The seals will be well ventialted to disperse any leakage caused by the
displacement of the void behind the seals. The seals will not impound any water or thickener material.
We plan [o pump approximately 128,000 gallons of slurry per operating shift, with an approximate
maximum expected volume of 19.2 million gallons per year. The Thickener slurry is comprised of 25%
solids or I8 tons per hour of coal and ash fines mixture. The plant usually operates with the thickener in
operation on a 12-hour shift. for approximately 200 days per year. This is approximately 36,000 tons of
coal and ash fines placed into the gob on an annual basis.
The gradient of the proposed settling area ranges from 3.5 to 12 degrees toward the l0 Right dewatering
borehole sump. The water will be pumped back to the surface via the l0 Right dewatering borehole and
recycled back to the preparation plant facility.
If you have any questions concerning this matter, please call me at (970) 870-2713
Thank you.
Sincerely,
t~ ~~ ~
R.
