Cattany <br />Gunnison <br />CG g 1230 Division Director <br />, Natural Resource Trustee <br />Re: West Elk Mine (Permit No. C-1980-007) <br />Permit Revision Application No. 10 (PR-10) <br />Application to Mine E-Seam South of Present Permit Area <br />Dear Gunnison County Commissioners: <br />This letter is to inform you that the Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology is proposing to Approve with <br />Conditions a revision application for a coal mining and reclamation permit. The application was submitted by <br />Mountain Coal Company, LLC on April 2, 2004, for the West Elk Mine. <br />Any person with an interest which may be adversely affected by the proposed decision may request a formal hearing <br />before the Mined Land Reclamation Board within thirty (30) days of the first publication of this notice by the Division <br />in the Delta County Independent. <br />The underground mine is located approximately 9 miles east of Paonia, Colorado. The permit area is further <br />described as follows: <br />All or portions of: Sections 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 2Q 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, <br />30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, and 36, Township 13 South, Range 90 West of the 6th P.M., Sections 23, 24, 25 <br />and 26, Township 13 South, Range 91 West of the 6th P.M, and Sections 2, 3, 4, 8, 9, 10, and 11, <br />Township 14 South, Range 90 West of the 6th P.M. The location of the above lands can be found on the <br />USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle maps of Bowie and Somerset. <br />Copies of the revision application are available for public review in the Division offices at the above address and at <br />the Gunnison County Clerk and Recorder.
