Untverstq,
August 4, 1997
Edith Savage
Savage and Savage
464 West Sumac Cotut
Louisville, CO 80027-2227
Dear Ms. Savage:
Cobrado Natural Heritage Program
Callcee of Namnl RerAtgpq
254 Geatotl Se+vion
Fort Collins. Colorado 80523-1401
(970) 491.7300
FAX: (970)491J349
The Colorado Natural Heritage program (CNHP) is in receipt of your request for information
regarding the Weld Courrty project. In response, CNHP has searched its Biological and
Conservation Datasystem (BCD) for natural heritage resotuces (occurrences of significant
natwal communities and raze, threatened or endangered plants and animals) documented from
the immediate azea of T3N R64W Seciiotu 25/36.
We currently have no records in ow datasystem for your study azea. Should there be relict stands
of shortgrass prairie, often characterized by blue •,ra;na (Bouteloua gracilis) and buffalo grass
(Buchloe dactyloides), found in your study area y ou may also find ferruginous hawks (Buteu
• regalis), black-tailed prairie dogs (Cynomys iudnvicionus), and burrowing owls (Arhene
cunicularia). These once wide ranging species „ar•e declined due to development and
agricultural conversion and are considered "wa!cntisted" in Colorado by CNHP (i.e. t.-acked but
notrnapped).
While the information contained herein represents a thorough search of CNHP's Biological and
Conservation Datasystem, any absence of data does not necessarily mean that other natural
heritage resources do not occw on or adjacent to the project site, but rather that ow files do not
currently. contain information to document their presence. Also, although every attempt is made
tp pro ~•ide the most rurrent and urecise information possible, please be aware that some of ow
sources provide a higher level of accuracy than others, and some interpretation may be required.
CNHP's datasystcm is constantly updated and revised. Please contact CNHP for an update on
this palatal heritage information if a significant amount of time passes before it is used.
Sincerely,
.~
l~ / -
Kevin Essington
'Environmental Review Coordinator
Nat~'ure
conse-vantyd
99c
