• i
Spider's Aggregate
May 9, 1985
Page 3
During start-up of the present operation in 1982, VME-Nitro Consult, Inc.
was engaged to monitor blasting operations with seismic instruments. In
their report dated July 21, 1982 (copy enclosed), air-blast was identi-
fied as a potential problem. In an attempt to reduce air-blast magnitude
30 mil Dataline Cord is now being used for all surface detonating connec-
tions, resulting in a sizable reduction of air-blast. E-;ord Primicord
was used during the VME-Nitro monitoring program.
A copy of all blasting activity is voluntarily furnished to the Fremont
County Planning and Zoning Department monthly, for their files.
EXHIBIT E Drainage Reclamation - Other than the retention dam>, no pits or
ponds will be created for final reclamation (see EXHIBIT E, Page 3). Tlie drainage at
the Southwest boundary of Area II will be basically free-flowing during operation and
after final reclamation. Excavation in the bottom of this drainage will be limited to
the amount of working room required for extraction of material located IJortherly of the
drainage. When the daylighted floor of the quarry nears the elevation ~~f the drainage,
said floor will be left a minimum of four feet higher than the bottom of the adjacent
drainage (see Figure 4, enclosed). The final gradient of this particul+-r drainage will
be very similar to the original gradient. prior to mining operations. is private access
road serving lands of the owner will, however, be left in final reclamation operations.
EXHIBIT L Financial Warranty - Amended performance and financial warranties
in the amount of $46,050.00 are being prepared and will be presented to you as soon as
they are available.
I feel that the above adequately addresses all of the concerns listed in your
Adequacy Review letter dated April 30, 1985. However, if you have any ~~urther questions
or require additional information, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely,
~~~~~~
Charles R.
