Dear County Commissioners:
Pursuant to Title 33, Article 34, Paragraph 3, of the Colorado Revised
Statutes, the Division of Minerals and Geology hereby issues notice that on
April 12, 1994, an application for renewal of a valid, existing permit to
conduct coal mining operations, Permit No. C-84-062, by Colorado Yampa Coal
Company, 29588 Routt County Road No. 27, Oak Creek, Colorado 80467, was
deemed complete for the purposes of filing. All reviews and comment periods
as provided in the Act and Regulations promulgated thereunder initiate from
this day of filing.
The applicant proposes to continue conducting surface coal mining operations
at the Energy Mine No. 3, located approximately 15 miles southwest of
Steamboat Springs. Mining has ceased at this operation and activities
proposed over the next five years are limited to monitoring activities
associated with vegetation reestablishment and the hydrologic regime. The
permit area is described as follows:
