EXHIBIT D -MINING PLAN <br />The Costilla County Road & Bridge is proposing to expand the existing San Acacio <br />Gravel Pit. The estimated date is spring of 2003, pending approval of the application, <br />The methods of mining will consist of truck & shovel With equipment to be used will be <br />a front-end loader, dump trucks, tandem trucks and possibly a bulldozer for stockpiling of <br />material. This method and equipmern will be used in each stage of the operation. <br />The estimated size of the area to be mined is 67.62 acres. The operation will begin from <br />the eastern boundary of the existing gravel pit and mined eastward in sectionlstages. Each <br />section/stages will consist of about 12 acres in size. See Exhibit C." The timetables for <br />completing each stage are unknown at this time. The thickness of the azea to be mined is <br />approximately 25 ft and overburden is estimated at 4' to 6' in depth <br />No ground water is expected to be encountered as a result of the excavation. There is the <br />possibility that there may be storm water accumulations at lower elevations on the site <br />and the channeling storm water drainage. No other water is expected to be utilized with <br />the proposed operation. <br />There is an existing entrance to the San Acacio Gravel Pit from $ighway 142. The <br />county will continue to use this entrance for the operation. There will be no structures on <br />site. See Mining Map For Road Entrance. <br />The vegetation presently on the affected lands is mostly grasses and brushes. The <br />commodity to be mined is Sand & Gravel for use as Road Base. Incidental products from <br />operation will be used for reclamation purposes. No refuse, acid or toxic producing <br />materials will be exposed. If material is exposed, it will be removed and relocated to a <br />proper landfill. <br />No explosives will be used on the operation. <br />
