The Division of Minerals and Geology hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, Section 116, Paragraph 4,
of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on May l 1, 2001, an application to revise coal [Wining operations al the North Thompson
Creek Mine was considered complete for the proposes of filing. The revision was submitted by MINREC, Inc.. All review and
comment periods as provided in the Act and the Regulations initiate from this date of filing.
This proposed technical revision to the Permit C-81-025 Application Package reconciles acreages of disturbed reclaimed and
disturbed un-reclaimed areas of the permit area, describes those features within the disturbed areas that have been designated as
permanent features, describes postmining land use areas, and clarifies other minor items in the permit application package.
The Underground coal mining operation is on land located approximately 10 miles Southwest of Carbondale, Colorado. The
permit area is further described as follows:
TBS, R89W; Portions of Sections 21, 22, 27, 28, 33, 34 and 35
T9S, R89W: Portions of Sections 2, 3 and 4
T7S, R88W; Portions of Sections 20, 29, 30 and 32
The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle maps of Stony Ridge and Carbondale.
The applicant is required to publish notice in a local newspaper that this application has been deemed complete. At the time of
publication of this notice, the applicant is requred to place a copy of this application at the Garfield County Courthouse, 109
8th St Ste 200, Glenwood Springs. CO 81601. There is one on file at the Division office. For additional information or to
provide written comments, contact the Division of Minerals and Ceology, Room 21~, 1313 Sherman Street, Denver,
Colorado 80203, [phone]. In order for us to comply with regulatory time frames, we request that comments be
submitted within fifteen (IS) days of this letter. If no comments are received by then, we will proceed on the assumption that
you have no concerns with, or objections to, the applicant's proposal.
