DFD confirmed via telephone with BLM (Mr. Rob Emst) that BLM had received and reviewed
DMG's Proposed Decision. DFD received BLM's concurrence letter, dated April 30, 1998
(attached). No other Federal land management agencies are involved in this action.
CYCC's phase II and III bond release application applies Co 477.4 reclaimed acres consisting of
two logical management units. The East Block consists of 145.6 acres and is also referenced
throughout the Eckman Park Mine permit application package as Area 6. The West Block
consists of 331.8 acres. DMG's proposed decision is [o release final reclamation liability on this
acreage. DMG holds a performance bond from Aetna Casualty and Surety Co., surety bond No.
64S100208573BCA, in the amount of $5,939,557.00. CYCC requested release of, and DMG's
proposed decision is to release, $95,480.00 of the performance bond. DMG estimates its costs to
complete remaining reclamation work at the mine to be $4,]04,077.00.
DFD extends our thanks to your staff for coordinating this bond release through our office.
Please address any questions concerning this action to Barbara Bowerman at (303) 844-1442 or
by E-mail at "bbowerma@osmre.gov."
Sincerely,
~~~ W~
-~. ~ James F.
