<br />PUBLIC NOTICE <br />Rocky Mountain Bank and Trust, P.O. Box 579, Florence, Colorado, <br />81226, telephone (719) 784-6376, has filed a Phase I and II bond release <br />application with the Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology for the <br />La Plata No. 1 Mine (CDMG permit # C-87-072). The bond release <br />application is available for inspection at the Colorado Division of <br />Minerals and Geology, 1313 Sherman Street, Room 215, Denver <br />Colorado 80203 and the La Plata County Clerks Office, 1060 Second <br />Ave., Durango, CO 81301. The mining and reclamation permit was <br />issued November 20, 1987. The former mine site is located within <br />portions of Sections 28 and 29, T35N, Rl l W, New Mexico Prime <br />Meridian, La Plata County, Colorado. The surface owners of the <br />property are Mr. Carl Strohecker, Mr. Jack Wiltse, Ms. Karen <br />Hunzeker, Ms. Eleanor Frazier, and Mr. Lawrence Huntington. The <br />U.S.G.S. 7.5 minute quadrangle titled "Hesperus' contains the permit <br />area of the mine. The permit area can be reached by driving four miles <br />south of Hesperus, Colorado on Colorado Highway 140 to La Plata <br />County Road 120. Travel west on La Plata CR 120 approximately three <br />• miles to the former mine. Bond release is sought for approximately 7 <br />acres of the former bench and mining area backfilled, graded, and <br />topsoiled between April and October 1990. Revegetation occurred in <br />1991. The bond release seeks acknowledgment of the successful <br />backt-ifilling and grading, topsoiling, and establishment of vegetation on <br />the site and release of the bond money slated for earthwork, grading, <br />topsoil placement and revegetation. Rocky Mountain Bank and Trust is <br />requesting a release of $47,724.00 of the existing $58,200.00 letter of <br />credit reclamation bond. The remaining bond of $10,476.00 will ensure <br />maintenance of the reclaimed site until fmal bond release. Anyone <br />wishing to submit written comments, objections, or request a public <br />hearing or informal conference must submit such request or comments to <br />the Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology, 1313 Sherman Street, <br />Room 215, Denver Colorado 80203 within thirty (30) days of the last <br />publication of this notice. <br />u <br />
