Lang <br /> Drvis~on Director <br />Re: Meeker Area Mines (Permit No. C-81-032) <br />Technical Revision No. 11 <br />Add Spring to Rienau Property and Revise Vegetation Standard <br />Dear Mr. S[rahan: <br />The Division of Minerals and Geology hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, <br />Section 116, Paragraph 3, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on August 26, 1996, an application to revise <br />coal mining operations at the Meeker Area Mines was considered complete for the purposes of filing. The <br />revision was submitted by Enron Coal Company. All review and comment periods as provided in the Act and <br />the Regulations initiate from this date of filing. <br />The revision addresses the addition of a spring, which was uncovered then backfilled during reclamation of the <br />mine in 1986, to the Rienau No. 2 Mine area. The vegetation standard would also be revised. <br />The underground coal mining operation is on land located approximately nine miles north of Meeker, Colorado. <br />The permit area is further described as follows: <br />Rienau No. 2 Mine: 5 acres in the center of Section 29, T2N, R93W <br />Northern No. 1 Mine: 7.1 acres in the SEr/a NW 1/a of Section 21, T2N, R93W <br />Refuse Facility: 4.1 acres in the Nlh SEIk of Section 20, T2N, R93W <br />The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle maps of Rattlesnake Mesa and <br />Ninemile Gap. <br />A copy of the technical revision application is available for public inspection at the Rio Blanco County <br />Courthouse in Meeker, Colorado, and at the Division office. For additional information or to provide written <br />comments, contact the Division of Minerals and Geology, Room 215, 1313 Sherman Street, Denver, <br />Colorado 80203, (303) 866-3567. In order for us to comply with regulatory time frames, we request that <br />comments be submitted within fifteen (15) days of this letter.
