I[ also describes a general plan for stabilizing reestablished <br />drainageways at Trapper Mine. These proposals are presented below as a single <br />plan because they are interrelated. When approved, separately or together, <br />they will be incorporated into our permit. ,- <br />The following proposed plan addresses three main areas. <br />1. Reduction of runoff into reestablished drainageways. ~J <br />2. Protection of drainageways through physical controls until vegetation <br />establishment. <br />3. Monitoring of reestablished drainageways and subsequent repairs. <br />1. Reduction of runoff <br />Trapper Mine proposes to control runoff into reestablishing drainageways by <br />two methods. The first method, establishment of vegetation on the reclaimed <br />areas, is a part of the existing reclamation process and generally takes two <br />to three growing seasons to reach total effectiveness. <br />The interim period may be characterized as having runoff higher than what <br />would be expected once the reclaimed areas achieve perennial vegetation <br />establishment. Thus, other types of control may be necessary to lengthen the <br />watershed hydrograph and also reduce the overall volume of water entering a <br />reestablishing drainageway. <br />Trapper proposes to construct livestock watering facilities to provide both <br />short term runoff control and long term watering facilitis for both domestic <br />livestock and wildlife. <br />These ponds will meet the criteria of technical revision 29 (TR-29) and the <br />average pond density will be no more than one pond per ten acres.
