Arkansas Avenue, Unit 104
Denver, Colorado 80237
RE: Coal Ridge No. 1 Mine (C-84-065), Technical Revision No. 9,
Adequacy Review
Dear Mr. Matthies:
The foliowing deficiencies have been found during the Division's initial
review of this revision. Issues correspond to those raised in the Division's
letter to you dated June 7, 1991 and your responses dated September 3, 1991.
Right-of-Entry and Operation
Figures 3.3-2 and 4.2-1 in the approved permit application show the NE4 NW/4
Section 12 as still being within the permit area, and need to be replaced
showing the corrected permit area boundary.
Operation Description
The life-of-mine information requested asks only for those tracts of the
permit area which will be undermined (including angie of draw) during each
permit term. Please indicate on a map what portions of the permit area will
be affected during the permit term ending 1996, 2001, 2006, etc. This
information is not intended to hold the operator to a particular mining plan
and production rate, but should represent the best information available on
the expected sequence and rate of mining.
The haul road certification, and information on cut and fill slopes and
gradients have not been submitted to date, and must be provided prior to
approval.
Ponds Impoundments and Diversions
Exhibit 4.b-1, runoff calculations for areas of alternative sediment control,
describes either two or three topsoil stockpiles, while there appear to be
five stockpiles outside the Pond A drainage area (numbers 1, 2, 4 and 5 as
shown on Figure 4.2-3, and the unnumbered stockpile immediately east of
Pond A). Please modify the Table to include all stockpiles and their mapped
designations.
