L.P., (C-81-019)
Request for Technical Revision No. 46
Modification to the Mine Plan and Topsoil Handling Plans.
Dear Mr. Walker:
Attached please find a request for Technical Revision No. 46 to the Colowyo Coal Co. L.P.,
Permit C-81-019. TR-46 provides for a modification to the Mine Plan and Topsoil Handling
Plans. We are principally making changes to Drawing No. 23 -Mine Plan and Drawing No. 28 -
Topsoil Handling described as follows.
Area 1-East end of the East Pit. -- After having reviewed the results of recent resource
confirmation drilling, geologic modeling and burn delineation we have determined that the mining
limits in the east end of the East pit can be extended further to the east. As such, we have made
minor modifications to the respective lines on the Mine Plan Drawing No. 23 and the Topsoil
Handling Drawing No. 28.
Area 2 -East end of the West Pit --Similarly, we have reviewed the approved mining limits for
the east end of the West Pit in the vicinity of the pit parking lot (SE1/4SE1/4 of Section 4) and we
have determined that modifications are necessary to facilite the connection of the West Pit
boxcut development into the East Pit. The Proposed change is included on Drawing No. 23.
Area 3 -North Limit of the Section 16 Pit. -- The current north coal removal line for the shovel
cuts (1998 -2002 area) was incorrectly located on the earlier maps. Topsoil and overburden has
been removed and an additional 225' x 2000' area of coal removed from the area formerly
known as the 2008-2010 mining area (see the 1/20/97 Drawing No. 23). To correct this
mapping error the Drawing Nos. 23 and 28 have been modified to more accurately show the
areas in question. To further reduce the possibility of confusion, especially in areas where the
West Pit re-mines a portion of the Section 16 Pit, the modified drawings also add the remaining
portion of the 2008-2010 mining area with the former 2003-2007 area to form the 2003-2010
area. We hope the modified boundaries provide additional clarity to the mine plan boundaries.
