' Lyons Pit, Interior Berms 2 January 28.2000
the wording in the permit had to take the form of unequivocal commitments to 150-foot minimum crest
widths for interior berms in the two locations and 188-foot crest widths for all other interior berms.
One point that was not discussed with Mt. Pazker is that the berm associated with the cement plant pond
is going to be a constructed embankment rather that a berm formed of native material left in place. A
150-foot wide crest on a constructed embankment will result in an unusually lazge constructed
embankment impounding a rather small pond. The Operator may want to consider a naaower
embankment crest with an incorporated spillway that could be used to pass water through the
embankment in either direction.
cc: Tom Schreiner, DMG .
c:\windows\pawnaNyons2.doc
t

i
1
~.

1

.~ .~-~:T" ...,,~
