The information
presented is already in the public record of the Meadows No. 1 Mine and is recounted again
for the record at this point. Responses to your comments follow the same numbering for ease
of review. Since this information, except where specified, relates to the reclamation at the
mine as a whole, these responses are applicable to both bond release requests being processed
by the Division, and should be incorporated into both applications as necessary and
appropriate.
We do not anticipate providing additional information beyond that contained in this response
for these bond release applications. As stated above, and in your correspondence, the vast
majority of the information requested is already in the public record. The majority of the
issues have been previously satisfactorily addressed in the revision, permit renewal, mid-term
review, or bond release processes. The remaining topics can be addressed by a careful reading
of the permit, permit decision documents, bond release decision documents, or by scientific
deduction.
We look forward to an expedient decision favoring final bond release on these parcels.
Sincerely,
Michael S. Savage
Vice President
enclosures: Response to CDMG October 1, 1996 correspondence
cc: Michael Long, Director, CDMG
Bryan Archer, Sun Coal Company
