The morning and evening
peak period (shift change) traffic was counted for both the Carlton and Ironclad access
locations. Although the background traffic on the Highway or County Road was expected to
be below that of an "average day", the mine traffic does not vary significantly from one
season to another.
At the Ironclad entrance, less than 40 vehicles were observed either entering or exiting the
mine during the peak hour, while traffic on CR 82 not associated with the mine was observed
to be only 8-10 vehicles per hour during the same periods. Of the two private mine access
roads and two parking lot entrances present at the Carlton access, mine traffic for all four
access points was counted at about 50 vehicles per hour (vph), while background traffic on
Highway 67 (traffic not associated with mining access at Carlton) was observed to run 20-30
TranSystems Corporation -March 7, 2000
