These comments focus on the groundwater issues discussed in section 3 and 6
of [he main body of the TR-26 document, and on [he document titled "West Pit Hydrogeologic
Characterization Field Program" found in Appendix A. We understand these comments will be
reviewed by the District and incorporated into their comprehensive response as appropriate.
Comments and Questions on H d}_roloQV Section of TR-26 Document
Page 14 .. There are no well numbers on Figure 3-4, making it difficult to
follow the text. It is difficult to determine which wells were used in the preparation of figure 3-4,
and which were not. Well numbers are identified on Figure 3-1, titled West Pi[ Monitor System.
Adjusting these two maps for the scale differences did not allow us to properly overlay the maps
and identify wells. One of the scales appears to be incorrect, probably that on Figure 3-4. It's
uncleaz if this scale error has impacted any of the data placement, gradient calculatiions, or
conclusions reached using [his map.
Page 15 .. What is the basis of the assumption for porosity of the backfill to be 30%.
Page 19 .. Paragraph 3.1.4 .. The conclusion is reached that the system is in steady state and that
the hydrologic flows that currently exist will probably represent flows in the system over the
