Kim soils are near the base of side slopes while lldefonso soils
are near the crest.
The Kim soil is deep and well drained. It formed in aolian silt and sand on plains.
Typically the soil is loam or fine sandy loam to a depth of 60 inches or more. Some
areas may have clay loam textures below depths of 40 inches. Permeability is
moderate. Available water capacity is high. Effective rooting depth is 60 inches or
more. Runoff is medium and the hazard of water erosion is high.
The Ifdefonso soil is deep and somewhat excessively drained. It formed in gravelly
alluvium. Typically the Surtace is gravelly loam 6 inches thick. The subsoil is very
gravelly loam 14 inches thick. The substratum to a depth of 60 inches or more is
extremely gravelly sandy loam or loamy sand. Permeability is moderately rapid.
Available water capacity is low. Effective rooting depth is 60 inches or more. Runoff is
medium and the water erosion hazard is high. This soil is a good source for sand and
gravel.
-~_.-.-p _. ...: .___:.._~>.-_ >u+.~ c:~sc -. -: --.-_,.a~:c.:-. a~-~saa. vim.. _.
Tuesdny, September 14, 2002 Page I of I
