As no coal will be extracted from the Canadian Strip Mine during this permit <br />term, the only permitted activity will be reclamation operations in the <br />currently approved permit area. <br />The load-out near Walden, Colorado, will be returned to an industrial site <br />free of coal fines. <br />Overburden stockpiled at the mine site will be returned to the open pit. <br />Remaining highwalls will be graded to 4 to 1 slopes, and a drainage channel <br />will be created. A sediment pond will be constructed in the area of the <br />channel to control runoff and sediment which will drain from the disturbed <br />area. The area will be topsoiled, seeded and mulched. All mining related <br />facilities will be removed except Ponds Nos. 1 and 2 which are approved as <br />permanent impoundments. Reclamation success will be determined by <br />statistically comparing reclaimed areas to approved reference areas. <br />J <br />
