Typically,
a sediment pond is utilized to control erosion after reclamation and the pond is left in
place until the vegetation is established. It would be very difficult to construct a
sediment pond(s) below the slopes because the reclaimed slopes form a narrow
channel that is bisected by Roatcap Creek. For this reason, we have decided to control
the sediment from the reclaimed area using an erosion control blanket.
On behalf of Bowie Resources Limited, (BRL), enclosed is an application for a technical
revision that demonstrates drainage from the reclaimed slopes, covered with an erosion
control blanket, will not contribute a higher level of suspended solids than the
undisturbed, adjacent natural slopes. Therefore, a sediment pond will not be required
to contain run-off from the reclaimed West Mine facilities area.
Please call if you have any questions.
Sincerely
~~
J.
