Dept. of Natural Resources
As a result of our meeting Thursday, October 13, 1983 I am addressing the
points of your letter dated September 13, 1983.
1. Enclosed is a contour map showing the proposed final grading
for the waste dump at the Sunday Mine. The dump is designed
to fit the existing topography upon final reclamation. The
slope on the west end of the waste pile will have a fairl~r
steep slope, due to property lines and drainage consideration.
Going to the east, the outslope can be sloped more gently to
conform to the surrounding terrain.
Enclosed is a photograph that hopefully will give you a bE~tter
view of the topography and show the general slope of the tterrain
and relationship to the waste dump.
Any seepage from existing blocked drainages will be monitored
on the down slope side of the dump. If water seepage doe<, occur,
corrective action will be taken to contain any eontaminate~d water.
2. Topsoil removal will be done around the toe of the dump arld
stabilized. This material can be best utilized on the waste
dump. It is very doubtful that topsoil can be salvaged from
the access road and ventilation sites since this material has
been used for construction material. In these cases, the material
will be placed in a manner that when roads and ventilatiorl sites
are graded in the final reclamation, it can be utilized for re-
vegetation.
3. Union Carbide agrees to this stipulation.
