Rule 2.06.8 Surface Coal Mining and Reclamation Operations on
Areas or Adjacent to Areas, Including Alluvial
Valley Floors
Mann Draw was field surveyed and was not determined to be an
Alluvial Valley Floor (AVF). The possibility of a connection
between the mined Coalmont formation and the Mann draw alluvium is
discussed in this section. Mann Draw alluvium is connected to the
Canadian River alluvium and the potential for impact, albeit small,
exists. However, for this to occur, an impact along Mann Draw
would have to be identified and this apparently has not occurred.
I have no questions or concerns about the information in this
section.
Rule 4.05.11 Ground Water Protection
The information in the current permit text is adequate considering
the mine is fully reclaimed.
Rule 4.05.12 Protection of the Ground Water Recharge Capacity
The information in the current permit text is adequate considering
the mine is fully reclaimed.
Rule 4.05.13 Surface and Ground Water Monitoring
The current monitoring plan in the permit is adequate based on
information presented in Section I.
Rule 4.07 Sealing of Drilled Holes and Underground Oneninas
See comments under Rule 2.05.4(2)(g) above.
Rule 4.24 Operations in Alluvial Valley Floors
See comments under Rule 2.06.8 above
This concludes my part of the mid-term review for the Bourg Mine.
If you have questions let me know.
