Schwartzwalder Mine under the March 28, 2000 Mineral Progtam Policy
Dear Mr. Waldron:
The Schwartzwalder Mine (Mine) is located in Jefferson County with a total permitted
affected, or potentially disturbed, acreage of 46.12 acres in Section 25, T2S, R71vV, 6PM and
Section 8, T3S, R70W, 6PM. The reclamation permit No. M-77-300 for this operation is a Hard
Rock 112/UG permit for metal mining.
Cotter Corporation is requesting a Technical Revision to Permit No. M-77-300 t}lat adds 5.77
undisturbed acres to the existing affected acreage. The addition of 5.77 acres will be offset by a
reduc[ion of 6.49 undisturbed acres that have been released from further reclamation liability under
Revision No. AR-1 dated April 30, 2001. This addition and deletion of acreage where no
disturbance has occurred is being requested under the Mineral Program Policy dated March 28,
2000 (see Attachment A). The location and quantity of the acreage to be added and t'1e offsetting
acreage previously released from further reclamation liability are depicted on the atta~=hed Exhibi[
C, Figure 1 "M-77-300 Affected Land Area Revision." A completed permit amendment application
and the Technical Revision fee of $150.00 are attached to this technical revision request. The notice
requirements for a standard permit amendment will be met in accordance with the process
delineated in the March 28, 2000 Policy memo.
The Financial Warranty for Permit No. M-77-300 has been reviewed in conjunction with this
technical revision request and the current Bond No. U2155972 of the State of Colorado, with a
value of $937,090.00, is sufficient to cover all DMG related reclamation costs.
