Change in route and construction
schedule of the A haul/walk road.
Map M-9 of permit renewal PR-2 illustrates the haul/walk road construction
schedule and routes for Trapper. As currently permitted, we are allowed to
build the A haul/walk road that will service north Ashmore pit in the middle
Pyeatt drainage area. However, a further review of economical haulage routes
requires us to revise the location of the road and its construction schedule.
Enclosed is a new set of M-9 maps that shows the new route for the A haul/walk
road. We intend to conCinue the road this year along the east side of middle
Pyeatt gulch south until it joins the south end of Ashmore pit. By overlaying
the new M-9 maps over M10A map, you will see that the road, beginning approxi-
mately at the point it crosses the middle Pyeatt drainage is in an area that
will be stripped of topsoil during this permit term. The remaining area of
road is already included in the bond calculations since only the location is
shifted slightly. Therefore, no change in the PR2 bond amount is needed.
Also, adequate sediment control is in place in Middle Pyeatt drainage. As
shown in Appendix Q, Section VII, the sediment control facilities present in
the drainage were built based on a worst-case disturbance. A worst case dis-
turbance will not occur until the entire Middle Pyeatt drainage area to be
mined is disturbed (Map M10A). Therefore, no changes in the sediment control
plan for Middle Pyeatt drainage is required.
Topsoil will be stripped and stockpiled prior to road construction. The final
stockpile locations will be shown in Trapper's 1988 Annual Report. Seeding of
the stockpiles and also the roadsides will be in the fall. The seed mixes to
be used are as approved in Trapper's 1987 annual report.
Construction procedures as outlined in permit Section 3.7.2 (Haul Roads) will
be followed. Culvert sizing calculation procedures are in Section 4.8.1.2,
Table 4.8.1 shows the culvert sizing for the culvert A-4A.
P.0. Box 187 Craig, Colorado 81626 (303) 824.4401
