bank.

4. Your calculations are in error. The figures given in the
application are correct. Furthermore, our records show that a letter
(dated 5/16/77) regarding clarifications to the mining and reclamation
plans was submitted to the agency and states that at least 6 inches, not
one foot, of fines will be replaced. Please advise if you have subsequent
information that is different from what is shown in our records.
~/ 5. Acknowledged. ~~-QS`'--~' `^~~'~'L'C~
6. Final slopes of 3:1 will be established at the southeast pit
X° boundary for reclamation.
Exhibit E - Reclamation Plan
1. The proposed revised seed mixture is acceptable.
~~ ~~-/ 3. The southeast bank of the pit area will also be graded to 3:1
~ slopes.
4. The berm will be set back from the crest of the 3:1 slope by about
10 feet. The function of the berm is, of course, to help protect the
integrity of the reclaimed slope. Since the stream distributaries across
the fan, a setback cannot be given from the stream branches due to the fact
that the paths of the waters are constantly changing. ~-(h~ ~yjZ; rncs~ S,~q„~,
to rcm-c.(~
5. The tree cluster referenced is not required to be left as part of
the permit and the operator does not wish to include such as a specific
provision of the permit amendment. The project manager would like leave to
the trees and is obviously working to do so, but the chances of the tree's
long-term survival is uncertain due to the fact that mining has exposed and
severed many of the roots.
6. Seed will be broadcast in the area where the tailings will be
removed, but the operator wishes to note that revegetation of this area is
not to be part of the criteria for the successful reclamation of this area.
Please feel free to call if you have any additional questions.
c,G~~
~~ i /~~O Upi~ .
