Sherman
' Executive Director
/~ Ronald W. Cattany
FROM: Joe Dudash ~1, 1~ Division DireROr
U Natural Resource Trustee
RE: Bowie No. 2 Mine, Permit No. C-1996-083, Bowie Resources LLC
Technical Revision No. 47, Hubbard Creek Vent Shaft and Incidental
Boundary Change, Adequacy Review
I am requesting your assistance in the adequacy review of the reclamation cost estimate
for Technical Revision No. 47 (TR-47), for the Bowie No. 2 Mine. In TR-47, Bowie
Resources LLC (BRL) is proposing to construct a vent shaft with support structures.
Also, the permit area is being increased by about 19 acres to accommodate the site. Total
disturbed acreage at the site will be 1.8 acres, but 0.6 acres was previously approved to be
disturbed through MR-75, Geotech Hole. Therefore, 1.2 acres will be disturbed under
TR-47.
The vent shaft will be constructed from the top down and will be 18 feet in diameter and
600 feet deep. Sediment control for the site will include a pond, three ditches, one culvert
and a berm. Topsoil will be stockpiled on the cut slope.
Attached is a complete copy of the submittal. Sorry I'm very late in getting this to you.
The submittal was received at the Division on March 12. The adequacy due date is April
19, 2007. I will probably be in the field April 16 through April 19. If you could get a
response to me by April 20, that would be great. There is no problem if you need
additional time. BRL still has to conduct a cultural resources survey of the area. If you
need additional information, please let me know. Thanks for your help.
Attachments
cc: Sandy Brown (without attachments)
c:/word/bowie2/tr47memo 1
Office of Office of
Mined Land Rxlamation Denver Grand Junction Durango Active and Inactive Mines
