Base Products
Tony F. Appelhanz
62339 W. LaSalle Rd.
Montrose, CO 81401
970-249-3061
EXHIB[1' L
RECLAMATION COST
The total surface azea on 55.435 acres equals:
~ }~~ e
Re~~~~~d
SFP 11 ?000
ON;Sron I Mn Fps $ Gep
/~,
43,560 sq R. X 55.435 = 2,414,749 Sq. ft. X 0.25 (3')603687.25 Cu. ft.. 27 = 22,358.78 Cu. yds.
The 3:1 slope to the south that doesn't already have topsoll on it, wtll be placed before all the
topsoll is stockpiled from that area.
The reclamation on slopes wlll be done as material is removed. The northwest sloped
portion will be done when mining is in that area. Tbpsofl removal will not be done until needed
for mining. Any vegetation wW also remain untll removal is needed to not interfere with the so11
stabiltzatlon already >n place. Stockpiles of topsoil can be seeded with oats Sn the fall. Once
roots are established, there should be no problem with the wind etc. There will be no slope
where permit abuts DS&G's pit. The exact method used will probably follow already existing
fence maintenance. Each wW be assigned a I / 2 of each straight section between two comers.
The pit floor cannot be reclaimed untll a final elevation 1s determined. The fence cannot wait
that long, but 1 suppose tt can be redone later if not suitable. In this area a legal fence must
separate the two pmpertles. This is a three wire lence with post spacing no more than one rod
apart and comer braced. This is the minimum that can be used.
1 have totaled the acres on the three portions that need topsoll removed. The surface
area is ] 8.9 acres and I estlmate the average depth of topsoll to be 6 inches.
43,560 sq. ft. X 18.9 = s 823,284 sq. ft. X .5(6') = s 411,642 cu. ft. + 27 = s 15,246 cu. yds.
of [op soil. The 3 areas from south to north and west are 6.5, 4.1, and 8.3 acres respectlvely. I
contacted Childs Excavating to comment on hauling of topsoll down to pit floor. He has a lazge
double engine scraper. The haul distance isn't great because material would be placed(as
shown on new map) near removal area. The reclamation hopefully can be done as soon as each
of the three areas are completed. The slopes when approaching the fence need t0 be made sate,
but a small enough deposit leftt to remove in a short tlme so the placement of the fence is not
interrupted for too long a period.
