EFFECTIVE DATE PAtlE <br />HC-QAC-02 0 1!06/92 66 of 104 <br />13.0 QUALITY CONTROL <br />13.1 Quality Control Terms <br />Field Blanks <br />Field blanks are analyzed to measure and monitor contamination which might <br />have been introduced during bottle preparation, bottle or sample shipment, <br />and during field activities. <br />The contaminant levels in field blanks should be less than the <br />method detection limit for all analytes. <br />Trio Blanks <br />Trip blanks are sealed bottles or vials which contain laboratory pure water <br />which accompany samples during transit, collection, and storage. <br />Trip blanks measure cumulative Contamination derived from laboratory <br />water, sample transit, sample site, and sample storage. <br />Trip blanks are normally provided for all volatile organics analyses at a <br />frequency of one per shipment batch. <br />Site Blanks <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />I <br />Site blanks are the same as a trip blank except that the corhtainer is o <br />at the site where the samples are collected. <br />Site blanks measure the same cumulative contamination v~thich a trip blank <br />measures but also includes background site contaminants which would not <br />permeate the bottle seal. <br />~ Rinsate Blank <br />Rinsate blanks are samples of clean water which were used to rinse field <br />equipment prior to sample collection. <br /> <br />
