E. The extrusion welding process shall restart by grinding the existing seam and rewelding a new
seam. Welding shall commence where the grinding started and must overlap the previous
• seam by at least two (2) inches. Reseaming over an existing seam without regrinding shall not
be permitted.
Each repair shall be non-destructively tested, except when CERTIFYING ENGINEER
requires a destructive seam sample obtained from a repaired seam. Repairs that pass the
destructive test shall be taken as an indication of an adequate repair. Failed tests indicate that
the repair shall be repeated and retested until passing test results are achieved.
Recording the Results: Daily documentation of all non-destructive and destructive testing
shall be provided to MANAGER by CQA Monitor. This documentation shall identify all
seams that initially failed the test and include evidence that these seams were repaired and
successfully retested.
3,11 CONFORMANCE TESTING:
A. During manufacturing of the geomembrane, CQA Monitor will be present to obtain and
forwazd samples to the Quality Assurance Testing Laboratory for testing to ensure
conformance with the SPECIFICATIONS.
B. Samples will be taken across the entire width of the roll and shall not include the first three (3)
feet. Unless otherwise stated, samples will be three (3) feet long by the width of the roll.
CQA Monitor will mark the machine direction on the samples with an arrow. Unless
otherwise stated, samples shall be taken at a frequency of no less than one per one hundred
fifry thousand (150,000) square feet. As a minimum, the following tests will be performed to
verify conformance to the design SPECIFICATIONS with minimum values specified in
Section 2776, Article 2.01.:
t 1
L J
PROPERTY TEST METIIOD
Thickness (mils) GRI-GM8
Compound Density (g/cc) ASTM D1505
Tensile Strength (Both yield
and ultimate strength and
elongation, as specified) ASTM D638
Carbon Black Content (%) ASTM D1603
3.12 PLACEMENT OF SOIL OR GRANULAR MATERIALS:
All soil materials located on top of a geomembrane shall be placed in such a manner as to ensure:
A. The geomembrane and any underlying geotextile is not damaged.
B. Minimal slippage of the geomembrane on underlying layer occurs.
C. Minimal movement and wrinkling or folding of the underlying geosyn[hetics layer(s) occurs.
D. No excess tensile stresses shall occur in the geomembrane, such as by earth moving equipment
making sudden starts, stops, turns. The allowable ground pressure for equipment shall be
prescribed by DESIGN ENGINEER for the material type and layer thickness as identified in
Item 3.06 of Section 2200.
'** END OF SECTION ***
Section 02776 Page 20 of 20 October 25, 2000
Geomembrane Golder Associates Revision 8
DfBHASEIV PSSA CERT.APPENT)ICIES~APPEWIX E TECFGNICAL SPECIEICATIONS1993-2°9902PbIR8 DOC
