nutrients will favor the development of the cool season species. If the decomposition rate
is faster than expected then the warms season species will be favored.
Secondary seeding can be helpful in increasing the density when the overall seeding
success rate is low to moderate. Secondary seeding will only be done if the initial seeding
does not produce the desired density -about four plants per square foot at the end of the
first growing season. Secondary seeding, if needed, will be done during the next planting
season.
Spot seeding, using the broadcast method, will be used to enhance the density in localized
areas were initial seeding did not produce the desired density. Spot seeding, as with
secondary, seeding will be accomplished during the next planting season.
Topsoil stockpile protection will be by broadcast seeding. The following seed mixture
will be applied to stockpiles expected to be in place for more than one growing season.
SOLBERG PIT TOPSOIL PROTECTION MIXTURE -BROADCAST
SPECIES PLS
lb/acre seeds/lb seeds/sg ft
Intermediate Wheat 10 97,000 2227
Pubescent Wheat 11 90,000 22.73
TOTALS 21 187,000 45.00
Buildings and Structures: No buildings or structures exist or are planned in the permit
area. Because this property has been in the ownership of the permittee for a long time, it
is unlikely any historical features of any kind resulting from activities prior to the current
owner (pennittee) exist on the property.
Timetable and Disturbance Categories: Reclamation will occur on a continuing basis and
will be controlled by the disturbance categories describe in the mining plan (exhibit D). It
is expected that regegetation of any particular area will be developed to the point of bond
release in five or fewer years after planting. However, it is possible that adverse weather
may result in south facing slopes taking longer to develop.
