Z4, 1999
SUBJECT: Santa Fe monitoring, Battle 3tountain Froj~ct
Jim;
I have looked back over the maps you faxed ms op Z-1Z-99
and the one you sent on 2-20-99. I have triefl to mash )fats Pram
each of theca maps together, and I believe I understand ~snerelly
where each wall in the Santa Fa lies. As there is not a scale on
either of these maps, i am not sure of the praclsa istances
involved and ask that you generally confirm the asaumptio~s chat I
have made as to well spacing.
Well &F-3 is the furthest west of the new Santa Ida wells.
well SF-2 apparently lies about a0o feet south east of 3~-7 along
the south sdge of the pit. I'm not sure of the deeignati n of the
santa Fe well 8MG constructed near PFi-1, but from the 2-12-9e map
it appears to lie at or very Haar M-19. Por simplicity s~ka, I'll
call this well SF-4. MTell SF-4 apparently lies about a00 feet
south east of well 8F-~. It is our understanding that T*~~elf SF-4
will ba maintained for purposes of monitoring and that data from
this well will bs available. 1i we continua in a general~~,,pp~~ south-
esetsrly direction along the pit Mall from well BP-4 anaEher 500
leet, we come Lo wall PW-2. i1e recommend placing the new Banta Fe
well (we'll call it SF-5) somewhere within a l00 foot i~dius of
well PW-2 as accsea allows. This will give BI4G fovx Santa a wells
at 400-500 foot spacings along the south edge of the pit an~ should
provide pretty good monitoring data on tt~e Banta Fa in this aren.
Let me know what your thoughts ors on this, if my
assumptions as to wall spaeinge and locations era incor ~~t.
Thanks c'-'-
- Ql~4
aMG(llm wat•ae M1'pRleor NwNlaMtl arotoor arawrvscs NurlilrMrrtr eNVSn/MEVrac OONrIRTa/rIs
