Long <br />Division Director <br />Per your request, the Division does hereby approve BMRI's proposal to initiate the Pink Gneiss <br />pilot project. BMRI must submit lab results to the Division of the water quality samples collected <br />at the Pink Gneiss monitoring wells within 30 days after receiving the results. BMRI must keep <br />accurate records of the amount (and type) of cazbon material used in the pilot project. The <br />records should be available to the Division upon request. If the EPA requires additional <br />monitoring wells in the Pink Gneiss pit, BMRI must submit the well location, campletion, etc. <br />data to the Division prior to, and after, the wells aze drilled. <br />Also the Division does hereby provide tentative approval to BMRI to initiate they infiltration or <br />injection system for placing processed water back into the West pit backfill groundwater system <br />through either an infiltration trench (the existing system on the east side of the pltj or a series of <br />injection wells (the existing monitoring wells), Final approval of the proposed infiltration or <br />injection system will be issued when the Division receives and reviews the technical and <br />geotechnical submittal for the "curtain wells" as was proposed in BMRI's January 3, 20001etter. <br />BMRI must provide the locations of the "curtain wells", the anticipated depth of each welt (the <br />depth should be sufficient to penetrate 5 to 10 feet of the underlying Santa Fe or pre-Cambrian), <br />BMRI must show the anticipated area of influence from the cone of depression Qprimarily, the <br />anticipated influence on the Rito Seco and/or the M-26 monitoring well), BMRI should submit <br />the anticipated well completion information to the Division prior to drilling the "curtain wells" <br />and BMRI must commit to submit a drillers log (or geologic log) to the Division within 30 days <br />after the wells have been drilled and completed. In addition, BMRI must record the amount of <br />water that is either allowed to infiltrate or is injected into the West pit backfill.
