:j
Mr. Steve S. Shuey
November 21, 1992
Page 2
Fill Slope (Southern Exposure); 2) Orchard Valley West Mine Fill Slope
(Northern Dcposure); and 3) Orchard Valley West Mine Vent Shaft & Fan Site.
One additional area, the Orchard Valley Mine Fan Level, has historically been
defined as a small area exemption. Due to limitations inherent in the Sedcad+
program and the complex drainage pattern in this area combining runoff fran
disturbed areas, disturbed areas considered part of a clean water diversion
structure, and undisturbed areas, modelling efforts to predict runoff quality
from this area have proven unsuccessful. COVCC proposes to treat runoff from
this area by establishing alternative sediment control structures in locations
which capture all runoff from this area. COVCC further proposes collect
representative samples from below the alternative sediment control structures
to docwnent compliance with the settleable solids standard.
The enclosed technical revision application includes thirty (30) additional
pages of Sedcad+ output for inclusion into Volume 8. Maps designating each
SAE location are provided along with revised permit text addressing specific
SAE characteristics. A revised table of contents is provided as well. With
the sutmittal of this information, COVCC requests that the inoon~lete
determination issued with respect to TR92-20 be revised and the review process
be reinitiated.
No significant changes to the mining or reclamation plans will result frcan the
implementation of this proposal and therefore the existing performance bond
remains adequate.
