Gunnison No. 1 Mine Permit Revision West Elk Coal
Permit No. C-007-80
Dear Ms. Beville:
The Division has completed its review of your permit revision pertaining to
the addition of 320 acres of underground reserves. The additional reserves
will ail ow relocation of the required subsidence monitoring panel. No new
surface facilities (other than monuments) are proposed under the revision.
In general, the application was well organized and adequately addressed the
applicable permit requirements. Only two concerns were raised that need to be
addressed:
1) Maps included in the application need to be certified by a qualified
registered professional engineer or professional geologist.
2) Additional information is needed on the photogrammetric subsidence
monitoring survey. Attached is a memo from Jim Pendleton of our staff
who conducted the subsidence review. WECC should respond to the
subsidence adequacy comments.
If no other concerns are raised, the Division will issue a decision on the
revision soon after we receive your responses. In the meantime, if you have
any questions please contact me.
Sincerely, ,
/-~ / . .
Robert Liddle
Reclamation Specialist
RL/fw
cc: Mr. Jim Pendleton
Mr. Richard Holbrook
Doc.
