Overall, we believe the
inclusion of additional acreage will improve the final reclamation and better approximate surrounding topography.
However, we would offer the following suggestions for your consideration.
After consulting with personnel at the Natural Resource Conservation Service we would recommend that
Crested Wheatgrass be eliminated from the reclamation seed mbc. To compensate, we would recommend that
Intermediate Wheatgrass, Pubescent Wheatgrass, and Sideoats Grama pounds per acre be increased.
Additionally, consideration should be given to including Streambank Wheatgrass in the seed mix as well. It is alsc
recommended that broadcast rates be increased from 24 pounds per acre to 30 pounds per acre. Finally, we
recommend that Mountain Mahogany be included in the reclamation plan as a woody shrub species along with
Rubber Rabbitbrush. This species of shrub is native to the area and provides excellent forage and cover for
numerous wildlife species.
We appreciate having this opportunity to provide input. Please feel free to contact me at (719)227-5227
should you have any questions or require additional information.
Sincerely,
David .
