GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEERING REPORT <br />GRAVEL EVALUATION <br />NORTHWEST OF WELD COUNTY ROADS 18 AND 25 <br />WELD COUNTY, COLORADO <br />_I <br />1 <br />INTRODUCTION <br />TERRACON PROJECT NO. 21035117 <br />JANUARY 9, 2004 <br />This report contains the results of our gravel evaluation for the proposed gravel pit to be located <br />northwest of Weld County Roads 18 and 25 in Weld County, Colorado. <br />The purpose of these services is to provide information and geotechnical engineering <br />recommendations relative to: <br />• Subsurface soil and bedrock conditions <br />• Groundwater conditions <br />• Approximate quantity of overburden <br />v <br />• Approximate quantity of sand and gravel <br />• Visual evaluation of quality of sand and gravel <br />The recommendations contained in this report are based upon the results of field and laboratory <br />testing, engineering analyses, and experience with similar soil conditions, and our understanding of the <br />proposed project. <br />PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT <br />It is our understanding the site is to be mined for sand and gravel which is to be used as aggregate <br />for commercial use in construction materials such as structural fill, base course, concrete and <br />asphalt. <br />SITE EXPLORATION <br />The scope of the services performed for this project included a site reconnaissance by a geotechnical <br />engineer, a subsurface exploration program, laboratory testing and engineering analyses. <br />r'ieid Exploration <br />Four test borings were drilled at the site on December 19. 2003. The borincs were drifted to <br />approximate depths of 30 to 35 feet at the locations shown on the Site Plan, Appendix a. All borings <br />were advanced with atruck-mounted drilling rig utilizing ?-inch diameter solid stem augers. <br />r <br />s <br />
