s
Jeff Deckler - 2 - November 14, 1986
application. Area 23 was calculated to have a peak discharge of 47 CFS
in the permit application; I calculated peak discharge for this area to
be 60 CFS. Area 9 in the application had a peak discharge of 22 CFS.
The value that I calculated was 69 CFS for Area 9. The discrepancy
between our two calculations may be attributed to different peak
discharge charts used. A chart appropriate for eastern Colorado must
be used to calculate peak discharge. The New Elk Mine must support
their calculations with appropriate charts or the peak discharges
should be recalculated using charts fora Type IIA storm for eastern
Colorado. If needed, peak discharges for all areas should be
recalculated.
/iml
5334E
