_,I ...
slopes are planned to generally b:~ about 1.75 and 2 horizontal to
1 vertical. At Portal No. 1, 1 to 1 cuts and fills are pro-
posed. Conipactien of ttie subgrade and embankment fill is
specified at a minimum of 95% of standard Proctor density (ASThI
D698) at a moisture content within 2 percentage points of
optimum.
If design information for the structures varies significantly
from that described above, we should be notified for geotechnical
review and to perform additional analysis as required.
SITE COPIDITIONS
The site is located south of County Road 335 about two miles
east of Piew Castle in the NE1f4 of Section 6 and PJ411/4 of
Section 5, T.6S., R.oOW. The surface and geologic conditions of
the site were discussed in our prelirtiinary geotechnical investi-
gation. The site, which has remained vacant and undeveloped
since our previous study, consists of strongly to steeply sloping
alluvial fan deposits derived from Grand Hogbac;< Ridge to tt~e
south. The lower part of the site is strongly sloping and may
contain valley alluvium mixed with alluvial fan deposits below
about elevation 5700 feet. The lower part of the site has grades
ranging from about 6% to 10% down to the northwest. The middle
and upper part of the site has grades ranging from about 10% to
35%. Above the site ttie hillside becomes very steep with grades
approaching 100%. Total elevation difference across the proposed
facilities area is about 250 feet.
Chen & Associates
