Refer to Table R-2 for lists of <br />species observed in these wetland areas. <br />Wetland <br />Location Photo <br />Number s Descriptions and Comments Jurisdictional Status <br /> These wetland areas are located along the <br /> acfive channel of the South Platte River and <br />Wetlands Along within the trench formed by the river. Many <br />the South Platte R-1 parts of this area consist of exposed sand and Jurisdictional/ Waters <br />River (W-Rl) gravel bars. In places the banks have been of the United States <br /> armored with waste concrete rip-rip. Of the <br /> species observed in these areas, 71 percent are <br /> characteristlc of wetland areas. <br /> This wetland area occurs along the saturated <br /> margins of an irrigation diversion ditch. <br /> Because of the steep sides of the excavated <br />Wetland along channel, this wetland does not extend very far Jurisdictional - <br />Diversion Ditch g_2 away from the flowing water. Seasonally the Connected to other <br /> <br />~-~) flow in this channel is variable depending on jurisdictional <br /> irrigation practices. Reed canary grass is the wetlands <br /> major species in this wetland. A complete list <br /> of species in this type of wetland is presented <br /> for Wetland W-Nl Norden Pro er <br /> This small wetland has developed in what <br /> appears to be an old vrigation channel. Most <br /> of the channel is dry and dominated by upland <br /> species, but at the location just north of the <br />Wetland in highway bridge, there is a small depression <br />Not Jurisdictional - <br />Southwest R-3 that holds water long enough for a wetland to isolated wetland <br />Corner (W-R3) develop. The major species in this wetland <br /> included a species of buttercup (Ranunculus <br /> sceleratus) and curly dock (Rumex crispus). All <br /> of the observed species are characteristic of <br /> wetland areas. <br />-7- <br />
