Currently the Grand Mesa Coal Company is applying for <br />a bond reduction at the Red Canyon Mine. Last year the company completed <br />reclamation of the mine site and planted an approved seed mixture to begin the <br />revegetation process. Normally operators apply fora reduction of the <br />reclamation bonds at this time and may receive up to a 60~ reduction in the <br />bond after the Division's review. <br />If you have any concerns with the reclamation work which has been conducted at <br />the Red Canyon Mine please send us a letter with these specific concerns <br />enumerated in accordance with Rule 3.03.2(3) of the Regulations of the <br />Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board for Coal Mining, a copy of which is <br />enclosed for your use. <br />Your concerns as to the mortgaging of mineral rights is not part of our legal <br />function. We therefore do not have personnel trained or the legal right to <br />help you in this area.
