•

to be mined and the thickness and type of the
overburden to be removed.
It is my understanding that Castle has marked the costs of its
reclamation plan confidential. Unless other statutes exist, 1 fail to
understand how the costs of carrying out a plan (which is not
marked confidential) can come within the scope of the above-cited
sections, which relate to the confidentiality of the extent of the
mined material.
The information about the costs of a plan are essential to
determining the plan's economic feasibility. Without knowing the
costs of Castle's proposal, residents of the Williams Canyon area and
others cannot fairly evaluate Castle's plan nor propose constructive
alternatives.
While Castle may not wish to provide information to critics,
the statutes seem to favor disclosure of information to enable the
public comment process to work. In addition, Castle would continue
to show its good faith by releasing such information. By shrouding
it, Castle sub,~ects itself to criticism by some about its motives.
Thank you for your consideration. I hope Castle will grant this
request.
Si/~"~YJ~,(~/
Renny Faga ~~~~~
State Representative
cc: Fred Banta
