A total of ~9 acres of surface disturbance from <br />mining is covered by a Coal Reclamation Bond in the amount of $477,085. The permittee is not applying <br />for a reduction in the bond amount by this action. <br />In a separate tiling with the Division, Basin Recourses is requesting a bond release for areas approved as <br />"Indusvial Use" as spas[-mining land use classification. The reclamation band would be subject to a <br />reduction of 5111,490 by this action. These facilities are also permitted with the Stale of Colorado, Oil and <br />Ga_s Conservation Commission, and are subject to the Commission's bonding requirements. <br />The Golden Eagle Mine is located on State Hwy. 12 approximately 30 miles west of Trinidad, Colorado, in <br />Sections 20, 21, 28 & 29, T33S, R67W. These sections can be located on the USGS 7.5 minute Vigil <br />quadrangle map. The tvtine ceased production on December 3l, 1995. In accordance with the approved <br />reclamation plan, sealing of [he mine shafts was completed by May 1996: removal of surface facilities, <br />foundations and footers by November 1996; and rough and final grading, returning the surface to <br />approximate original contour, and establishment of drainage channels and controls by January 1997. <br />Seeding and mulching of the disturbed areas vas completed by June 1997. All of these reclamation areas <br />will remain under the reclamation bond requirement with no reduction in bond amount resulting from this <br />proposed action. <br />Any written comments, objections or requests for a public hearing or informal conference regarding this <br />bond release application must be submitted to the Division of Minerals and Geology, (313 Sherman Street <br />Room 215.
